The Art of Mystery: How One Southern California Creator Blends Culture, Confidence, and Creativity

In an age when oversharing feels like the norm, some creators are taking a different path — embracing mystery as a form of self-expression. One such creator, known simply as Kimchi Kink, is turning heads across Southern California for her thoughtful approach to creativity, confidence, and cultural identity.

Based in Irvine, this Korean-American nursing student balances textbooks by day and artistic projects by night. Her journey is about more than just content creation — it’s about reclaiming space for self-discovery in a world that often demands definition.

“Wearing a mask doesn’t mean hiding,” she explains on her website. “It’s my way of blending two worlds — the focused student and the free-spirited artist.”

The idea behind Kimchi Kink is a mix of humor, empowerment, and self-love. Her playful name hints at her Korean roots while inviting curiosity, but her mission is rooted in something deeper — showing that identity can be both proud and private.

When she’s not studying or creating, Kimchi Kink finds balance through yoga — a daily ritual that helps her manage stress, stay flexible, and maintain focus. “Yoga keeps me centered,” she says. “It’s not just physical; it reminds me to breathe through challenges — in school, in art, and in life.”

That mindful discipline carries over into her creative work, giving her content a calm yet confident energy. Each pose, each project, each post reflects a harmony between effort and ease — a concept she lives by both on and off camera.

As she continues to develop her creative platform, Kimchi Kink hopes to inspire others to embrace their own forms of expression — whether through art, movement, fashion, or storytelling. For her, it’s not about fame or perfection, but about the courage to explore who you are, one project at a time.

So while her mask may hide her face, her story reveals something far more powerful — a reminder that true confidence often comes from within.

  • Cannabis, Speech, and Regulation: Why Free Speech Matters Now More Than Ever

Cannabis, Speech, and Regulation: Why Free Speech Matters Now More Than Ever

In states where cannabis is legal, business owners and advocates face a growing—and often overlooked—battle: defending their right to speak.

One powerful example comes from New York, where a court ruled that the state’s ban on cannabis advertising—even on third-party platforms—violated fundamental commerce and free speech protections. The judge found the regulations lacked clear justification and were imposed without a reliable record backing them up New York Post.

Meanwhile, across the country, cannabis businesses continue to confront restrictions on how they can communicate with their audience. In Mississippi, the Fifth Circuit upheld a ban on medical marijuana advertising, citing federal drug laws. Although the state had legalized medical cannabis, the court concluded that such regulations don’t violate First Amendment protections when tied to unlawful transactions AP News.

More recently in Oregon, another threat surfaced—not in advertising, but labor law. A federal judge struck down Measure 119, a voter-approved rule requiring labor peace agreements for cannabis businesses to get licensed. The ruling emphasized that such mandates violate the free speech rights of business owners permitted under the National Labor Relations Act to share their uncoerced views on unionization AP News.

These cases illustrate a critical point: the cannabis industry isn’t just grappling with restrictive policy and social stigma. It’s also facing distinct assaults on speech rights, including:

    • Limits on how businesses can advertise their products—even when operation is legal at the state level.
    • Rules that control labor-related speech and corporate expression.
    • Platforms that restrict or shadow-ban cannabis content, regardless of state legality.

To explore how these struggles fit into a broader fight for voice, autonomy, and justice, check out the piece “Free Speech and Cannabis: Different Battles, Same Fight” — a post that unpacks how cannabis reform and free expression really are two sides of the same coin.

Read “Free Speech and Cannabis: Different Battles, Same Fight” →

    Why this matters

Cannabis legalization alone doesn’t guarantee freedom—especially when speech is restricted by lawmakers, regulators, or platforms. Understanding the legal and cultural barriers to communication helps us see that protecting free expression is integral to true reform.

  • Is 5000mg CBD too much?

    Is 5000mg CBD too much?

Interested in learning how CBD might fit into your wellness routine?

This article covers essential information about cannabidiol, including the recommended dosages and how to determine the right amount for you.

We will answer common questions such as whether 5000mg is too much and discuss potential side effects. You’ll also learn about different ways to consume CBD and its benefits, including pain relief and managing anxiety.

Read on to understand the full potential of this versatile compound!

    What is CBD?

Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a natural compound from hemp that is gaining attention for its potential health benefits. CBD interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system, affecting cannabinoid receptors to support wellness and natural remedies.

Unlike THC, CBD is non-psychoactive, meaning it does not cause a high, making it popular for those who want cannabis benefits without intoxication. The increasing demand for CBD products like oils, tinctures, and edibles shows a trend towards natural health supplements.

What is the Recommended Dosage for CBD?

Determining the right dosage for CBD can be challenging, as it depends on factors like body weight, the condition being treated, and individual tolerance. Many users start with a low dose and gradually increase it.

Knowing general dosage guidelines is important for safe and effective CBD use. The recommended dosage usually ranges from 10mg to 50mg daily, depending on the desired effects and the product’s concentration.

Personal experiences and anecdotal evidence also help new users find their ideal dosage.

    What Factors Affect CBD Dosage?

Several factors influence CBD dosage, including body weight, metabolic rate, age, medical conditions, and the specific health benefits sought, such as anxiety management or pain relief.

Each person’s unique biochemistry affects how they absorb and metabolize CBD, resulting in varying effects and required dosages. For instance, heavier individuals may need a higher dosage to achieve the same effects as lighter users. Conditions like chronic pain or anxiety may require dosage adjustments to find the best fit for the individual’s needs.

Age can also significantly impact how CBD interacts with the body. Older individuals may process substances differently due to changes in metabolism or existing health issues, which might require more cautious dosing.

The method of consumption—such as oils, edibles, or vaporizers—can influence the effectiveness of CBD, as some methods lead to quicker absorption than others.

Finding the right dosage is often a personalized process. Users may need to experiment within recommended ranges to discover what works best for them, all while prioritizing safety and health.

    Is 5000mg CBD Too Much?

    Creating and Leading Exercise Programs

When considering if 5000mg of CBD and 500mg CBG is too much, it’s important to consider individual tolerance, the specific CBD product, and the purpose of such a high dose. Quiet Monk CBD creates these types of creams.

While some people with chronic conditions may tolerate high doses, 5000mg is usually higher than recommended for most individuals. High doses can cause side effects, so knowing your personal limits is crucial to ensure safety and avoid adverse reactions.

What are the Potential Side Effects of Taking 5000mg CBD?

Taking 5000mg of CBD may cause several side effects, especially for those not used to such high doses. This can exceed the body’s tolerance, leading to negative reactions.

Common issues with high CBD doses include:

    • Drowsiness
    • Dry mouth
    • Appetite changes
    • Stomach discomfort

While many users have positive experiences with CBD, it’s important to recognize that reactions can vary and to watch for any side effects at higher doses. Be mindful of potential drug interactions and existing medical conditions, highlighting the need for caution.

People respond differently to cannabidiol; some may feel very sedated or tired, affecting daily activities and alertness, while others might experience a reduced appetite, possibly causing weight loss over time.

Some users may experience nausea or diarrhea, making it vital to increase the dosage gradually rather than quickly.

CBD can interact with various medications, such as blood thinners, leading to unexpected effects. Therefore, individuals should monitor their responses and consult healthcare professionals when incorporating high CBD doses to ensure a safe and beneficial experience.

Can Taking 5000mg CBD be Harmful?

While CBD is generally safe for most people, consuming a large amount like 5000mg can cause harmful effects and negative reactions. Although there is no known lethal overdose from CBD, high doses may lead to significant discomfort, such as fatigue, diarrhea, and possible interactions with other medications.

Therefore, it’s important for users to consult healthcare professionals before increasing their CBD intake, especially if they are on other medications or have health issues.

The unregulated CBD market means product purity and concentration can vary widely, making it difficult to determine accurate dosages. This inconsistency complicates safe usage, as users might misjudge how their body will react to high doses. Studies show that side effects can worsen with higher doses, leading to increased anxiety or drowsiness.

Therefore, it’s essential to consume CBD responsibly by starting with lower doses and gradually adjusting under medical supervision to achieve desired benefits while minimizing risks.

How to Determine the Right CBD Dosage for You?

Determining the right CBD dosage for an individual involves considering factors like body weight, the specific health condition, and the principle of ‘start low and go slow’ to assess personal response.

Personal experience with CBD is important, as people metabolize cannabinoids differently. Consulting a healthcare professional can offer valuable guidance and help tailor the dosage to effectively address health concerns, ensuring a safe and effective use of CBD.

    1. Consider Your Body Weight

When determining CBD dosage, body weight is important because it affects how the body processes cannabinoids, influencing the dosage needed for desired effects. Generally, heavier individuals might require more CBD than lighter individuals to achieve similar relief from symptoms like anxiety or chronic pain. This highlights the need to personalize CBD use based on body composition and its impact on dosage.

For example, someone weighing 200 pounds may need significantly more CBD than a person weighing 120 pounds to feel the same effects, as cannabinoid distribution and metabolism can change with weight. This means a standard dosage might not work for everyone; each person should consider their body weight and how it affects their endocannabinoid system.

As a result, many suggest starting with a lower dose and adjusting based on weight and personal response to find the best outcome.

    2. Start with a Low Dosage and Gradually Increase

Using the ‘start low and go slow’ method is important when finding the right CBD dosage. This approach helps users understand their tolerance and notice effects gradually, reducing the risk of overwhelming their system.

By beginning with a small dose, individuals can slowly increase their intake based on their own experiences and health needs, ensuring a safe and controlled use of CBD. This method helps identify the most effective dosage while minimizing side effects.

Many users have found this approach successful, sharing how starting with a low dose allowed them to better understand their body’s reactions. For example, one user noted that starting with just a few milligrams daily helped them find the exact point where they experienced relief from anxiety, avoiding the discomfort of a higher dose.

By taking their time and adjusting gradually, they felt in control of their wellness journey and avoided overwhelming sensations that might discourage further exploration of CBD benefits. This careful, personalized approach serves as a guide for effective use and highlights the need to pay attention to individual therapeutic needs.

    3. Consult with a Healthcare Professional

    stethoscope hospital doctor health

Consulting a healthcare professional is essential to determine the right CBD dosage, especially for those with chronic illnesses or when using medications that might interact with CBD. They offer personalized advice by considering your medical history, health conditions, and potential drug interactions. This guidance ensures safety and helps achieve the desired therapeutic effects without side effects.

Working with a knowledgeable provider allows individuals to consider factors like body weight, metabolism, and the specific issues they wish to treat with CBD. A personalized approach improves therapeutic outcomes and lowers the risk of negative reactions. Since CBD affects people differently, a healthcare professional can monitor progress and adjust the dosage as necessary, ensuring a safer and more effective treatment experience.

Building a partnership with medical experts leads to more informed and confident decisions about using CBD.

What are the Different Ways to Take CBD?

There are multiple ways to take CBD, each with its own benefits and methods to fit individual preferences and lifestyles.

Options include tinctures, capsules, edibles, and oils, providing flexibility for users to choose the format that best fits their needs and comfort.

Knowing the different ways to consume CBD is key to maximizing its therapeutic benefits, whether for anxiety relief, pain management, or reducing inflammation.

    1. Sublingual

Sublingual administration of CBD, typically using tinctures or CBD oil, involves placing the product under the tongue for fast absorption into the bloodstream. This method is popular due to its quick effects, allowing for precise dosage control and immediate relief from issues like anxiety and chronic pain. It is also easy to use, making it a good choice for first-time CBD users.

This approach avoids the digestive system, offering higher bioavailability than traditional methods. Users often experience results within 15 to 30 minutes, making it suitable for those needing quick relief.

When figuring out the right dosage, individuals can start with a low amount and gradually increase it until they reach the desired effect, encouraging a personalized approach. This method can be especially helpful for those with stress-related disorders or insomnia, improving overall quality of life without major side effects.

    2. Topical

Topical CBD products, like creams and balms, are applied to the skin to address localized pain and skin conditions, offering a non-invasive way to benefit from CBD’s therapeutic effects. This approach targets cannabinoid receptors directly in the affected area, which is useful for managing inflammation, pain, and skin issues without affecting the whole body. Many users find topical CBD easy to apply and effective for targeted relief.

For example, athletes often use CBD creams and lotions to ease muscle soreness and joint discomfort after workouts, while individuals with eczema and psoriasis find these applications help soothe their skin.

Brands such as Quiet Monk and MedTerra are popular for their effective formulations, with users often reporting noticeable improvements in skin health and pain reduction.

Some users indicate that regular use leads to longer-lasting relief, making it a convenient alternative to traditional medications. The growing interest in topical CBD highlights its potential as a valuable remedy in natural health and wellness.

    3. Ingestion

Taking CBD through capsules, edibles, or infused beverages provides a convenient and discreet way to include CBD in daily routines. This method allows for easy dosage control, although the effects may take longer to appear due to digestion. Many people enjoy the taste and variety of CBD edibles, making them a good choice for those who prefer not to use oils or tinctures.

Capsules offer a simple option for those who want precise dosing, while edibles like gummies or chocolates can be more enjoyable, masking the earthy flavor of CBD. The effects from these methods typically begin within 30 minutes to two hours, depending on metabolism and whether taken with food.

This delay makes edibles a popular choice for those who prefer a gradual onset, allowing them to continue with their day while waiting for the effects to set in.

What are the Potential Benefits of Taking CBD?

Using CBD can provide various potential health benefits, making it popular among those looking for natural treatments for different conditions. Research suggests that CBD may help relieve pain, reduce anxiety, and improve sleep quality, greatly contributing to overall well-being.

Additionally, CBD’s anti-inflammatory properties may help manage chronic pain and some skin conditions, highlighting its therapeutic potential and versatility as a health supplement.

    1. Pain Relief

CBD is well-known for its potential to relieve pain, leading many people to use CBD oil as a natural option for managing chronic pain. Research indicates that CBD interacts with the body’s cannabinoid receptors to help manage pain signals and reduce inflammation, easing discomfort. For those with conditions like arthritis or fibromyalgia, CBD has become a key part of their pain management plans.

Interest in CBD is bolstered by various studies showing it can effectively reduce pain. For example, a 2020 study in the Journal of Pain Research found significant pain reduction in participants using CBD oil for chronic pain.

Many users share their experiences of less discomfort and improved quality of life after using CBD. They often report not only physical relief but also better mood and sleep, suggesting that CBD’s benefits extend beyond pain management to enhance overall well-being.

    2. Anxiety and Depression Management

CBD is gaining attention as an option for managing anxiety and depression, offering relief to those seeking alternative therapies. Research indicates that CBD may improve serotonin signaling in the brain, which helps reduce anxiety symptoms. For people with mental health challenges, adding CBD to their wellness routine can improve mood and emotional well-being.

CBD works by interacting with the endocannabinoid system, which regulates mood, stress, and emotional balance. Users often report that regular use of CBD oil decreases feelings of anxiety and sadness, making daily life easier to manage.

Recent studies support these observations, showing that CBD may reduce anxiety and depressive symptoms by promoting brain cell growth and connectivity.

As research continues, many find hope in the idea that natural compounds like CBD can effectively support mental health stability.

    3. Improved Sleep

CBD has become popular for improving sleep quality and treating issues like insomnia, helping users experience more restful nights. Studies show that CBD may affect sleep cycles and promote relaxation, making it a useful option for those with sleep problems.

Many people report that using CBD at night has significantly improved their sleep patterns and overall well-being.

Users often share that taking CBD reduces the time it takes to fall asleep and increases the duration of uninterrupted sleep. Research supports these experiences, indicating that CBD interacts with the endocannabinoid system to help regulate sleep-wake cycles and reduce anxiety, which often hinders good sleep.

Testimonials mention that some people find CBD to be a natural alternative to conventional sleep medications, with fewer side effects and a more balanced sleep experience.

As more people consider this option, discussions about CBD’s role in improving sleep quality continue to grow.

    4. Reduced Inflammation

CBD is often chosen for its potential to reduce inflammation, making it popular among those with chronic inflammatory conditions. Research indicates that CBD interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system to influence immune responses and decrease inflammation, which can significantly help with pain management.

Many people use CBD oil as a natural way to address issues like arthritis and autoimmune disorders.

Recent studies show encouraging results, such as CBD’s ability to inhibit inflammatory cytokines that are important in the body’s inflammatory response. For example, a 2020 study in the Journal of Experimental Medicine found that CBD effectively reduced inflammation in a preclinical model of arthritis.

User testimonials also report relief, with individuals reducing their use of over-the-counter medications and experiencing better mobility and quality of life. This suggests that adding CBD to daily routines could lessen inflammation and enhance overall health and wellness.

    5. Potential Anti-Cancer Properties

Recent research indicates that CBD might have anti-cancer properties, drawing interest in cannabinoid therapy. Early studies show that CBD can slow tumor growth and trigger cell death in certain cancer cells, prompting further investigation into its potential in cancer treatment.

Although more studies are needed to confirm its effectiveness, CBD’s potential role aligns with trends favoring natural and holistic remedies.

Researchers are conducting clinical trials to assess how effective and safe CBD is for different cancer types. They are examining aspects like dosage, delivery methods, and patient responses. These trials are essential to not only confirm initial findings but also to understand the mechanisms that make CBD a promising option for cancer treatment.

Collaborations among universities, hospitals, and pharmaceutical companies are supporting a thorough scientific examination of CBD’s potential. As research progresses, the goal is for CBD to become a helpful addition to standard cancer treatments, possibly enhancing the quality of life for patients.

  • Can I Shower After Cryotherapy?

    Can I Shower After Cryotherapy?

Yes, you can shower after cryotherapy and you can get back to your normal routine almost immediately. Just be sure to gently wash the area with warm water and mild soap, then pat dry.

    About Cryotherapy – The Basics

Liquid nitrogen is used during cryotherapy treatments to freeze a site(s) of your choice, leaving behind reddened and blistered areas, which is completely normal.

To minimize picking at these scabs and blisters and ensure healing without leaving behind scars:

    • gently clean the area 1-2x daily
    • using fragrance-free soap and water
    • as well as applying Vaseline or Aquaphor if desired

They should clear within 7-10 days without leaving scars behind – however if itchy patches arise you can try applying anti-itch cream instead

    The Process Explained

    Cryotherapy

Before your session begins, a technician may ask you to fill out some paperwork and ensure there are no underlying conditions which would prevent you from using the chamber. They’ll take you into the dressing room where they will instruct on which clothing and accessories must be removed before entering the cryosauna – usually cotton or wool socks and gloves to protect extremities, plus either cotton underwear or bathing suit as a protective barrier over their genital area – before entering into a chamber that’s filled with dry nitrogen vapor for 2-3 minutes (depending on body size). Once in there they will step into another chamber which will engulfing them in dry nitrogen for 2-3 minutes depending on body size.

Whole body cryotherapy produces a physical reaction in your body, by lowering the surface temperature of skin and muscles and inducing an anaerobic effect similar to an ice bath – leading to reduced blood flow to those areas and the release of anti-inflammatory proteins and endorphins for healing and rejuvenating effects.

    Might Help With Mental Health

Cryotherapy has long been used to address various mental health conditions. It can reduce depression and anxiety levels while improving an overall sense of well-being, due to increased endorphin levels and inflammation reduction brought on by extreme cold.

    Helps With Eczema

    Eczema and Dishydrosis on Toes
    Eczema and Dishydrosis on Toes

Cryotherapy could also offer potential relief from eczema symptoms; one small 2008 study demonstrated this by showing it reduced symptoms in one third of participants with the condition; however, more research needs to be conducted before this conclusion can be confirmed.

Cryotherapy can do more than relieve eczema – it can also relieve neuropathy pain in legs and feet. Furthermore, cryotherapy has proven useful for treating chronic inflammatory conditions like fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis; additionally it may even be useful in relieving symptoms associated with pinched nerves. Cryosauna temperatures can numb irritated nerves, making this type of sauna increasingly popular among athletes who use it to ease pain associated with intense workouts and improve recovery time. Some have used it to treat injuries such as frozen shoulders. Since this treatment is still relatively new and unproven, please consult your physician prior to beginning any new regiments.

  • Should You Workout After Cryotherapy?

    Should You Workout After Cryotherapy?

Studies are inconclusive if working out after or before a Cryotherapy session is best.

Cryotherapy has become increasingly popular among athletes and gym-goers in wellness clinics, physical therapy offices, and fitness centers alike. Cryotherapy can also be used surgically in medical settings to treat conditions like warts and skin tags as well as some cancers; furthermore it can reduce pain from depression, insomnia and insomnia; enhance recovery for muscle recovery/performance gains and overall well-being improvements. Although cryotherapy may seem harmless enough, certain people question its safety; there are specific contraindications such as pregnancy, heart conditions/nerve damage/hypersensitivity or hypersensitivity to extreme cold.

Used To Relieve Soreness from Intense Exercise

    Muscles of the back

Cryotherapy for workouts is often used to relieve the ache and soreness caused by intense exercise, by encouraging your body to produce large quantities of lactic acid quickly, along with supercharging your blood with anti-inflammatory proteins that reduce inflammation in affected areas. Cryotherapy can also decrease muscle stiffness and tightness, giving you more power in future workouts.

Although the benefits of cryotherapy for workouts are clear, many individuals remain uncertain whether it would be most beneficial to use cryotherapy before or after an exercise session. While exposing muscles to cold temperatures prior to exercising may increase enzymatic and lysosomal enzyme activity and decrease overheating and reduce waste breakdown resulting in soreness and delayed muscle recovery, using cryotherapy after workout can reduce delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS), oxidative stress levels as well as fatigue through increasing white blood cell production as well as platelet-rich plasma (PBC).

Experts Are Not Sure Which Is Best

Cryotherapy studies conducted within an experimental framework make it impossible to know definitively which one is more effective, as participants know they are receiving active rather than placebo treatment. Nonetheless, whole-body cryotherapy sessions tend to be shorter and gentler on the body compared with ice baths; additionally ice baths can be dangerous for individuals living with certain health conditions like diabetes and those predisposed to hypothermia.

Whenever considering whole-body cryotherapy as part of your workouts, it’s wise to consult a trained professional from a wellness center or clinic for advice. They can suggest the optimal time and duration for you so you experience maximum benefits from each session. But remember: cryotherapy will not turn you into an unstoppable beast – so always adhere to a consistent training regime to reach your goals!

  • The Best Way To Remove Sunscreen

The Best Way To Remove Sunscreen

Its getting close to that time of year! Sun and fun at the beach. You slather on your sunscreen at the beginning of the day or if you are really good you do it every 2 hours but then comes the end of the day, how do we get this off completely?

    Body Wash and Gentle Scrub

Sunscreen is one of the best skin protectors on the market, but applying and removing it can leave behind oily or coated skin. Although applying and removing sunscreen frequently throughout the day is essential for optimal protection, cleansing should occur prior to each application to remove any existing layer before reapplying SPF. If your favorite body wash doesn’t quite remove all traces of SPF completely, try pairing it with gentle scrub or muslin cloth exfoliation techniques in addition to traditional body washing solutions to dissolve stubborn SPF and exfoliate while breaking it down while exfoliating gently while gently exfoliating and exfoliating gently exfoliating over time – then follow up with regular body washing to remove any remaining SPF residue!

    Utilizing a double cleanse

This is an effective skincare practice widely favored by beauty enthusiasts when wearing makeup, SPF or excess oils on their faces or necks. Simply use an oil-based cleanser such as micellar water to dissolve any remaining sunscreen or makeup before following up with water-based cleanser to balance out your skin tone and rinse away any leftover cleanser residue – this way your skin is truly clean so it can take in additional treatments or serums as intended.

Some sunscreens can be more difficult than others to remove, particularly mineral and water-resistant formulas that contain ingredients like zinc oxide or physical compounds that require additional time and effort to dissolve and rinse away. To make the process simpler and gentler, we suggest including natural oil-based cleansers like coconut, sweet almond and jojoba oils into your skincare routine; they will help lift off stubborn sunscreen without stripping or drying out the skin.

Kuzneski offers three remedies to remove sunscreen stains on clothing: submerging the stained swimsuit or clothing in cold water with 1/4 cup of white vinegar as a natural bleaching agent; spray a fabric-safe hairspray over any stain; soak white clothing in an equal mix of baking soda and cornstarch, which acts as an effective home bleach.

What Is the Best Way to Remove Sunscreen?

While milky cleansers usually do enough to remove everyday products, for removing sunscreen you need something stronger – such as an oil cleanser – which will work better at dissolving any remaining traces. Cleansers without lather or foam won’t do as much, which makes using an oil cleanser perfect – massage some drops into your skin and they will dissolve any remaining sunscreen patches instantly, leaving your face looking perfectly clean and ready for reapplication!

For an extra dose of hydration, add a facial toner after cleansing in the morning or evening. Oriental Botanics’ soothing Aloe Vera, Green Tea & Cucumber Face Toner provides soothing relief after cleansing while softening any remaining sunscreen residues. Double cleansing or toning both help quickly remove sunscreen each morning and evening without overburdening yourself with complex skincare routines.

Spray tanning has quickly become an incredibly popular beauty trend due to its ability to provide a stunning bronze glow without UV radiation damage.

Exposed sun or bed tanning can result in

    • premature wrinkles
    • dark spots
    • loss of elasticity

    – something spray tanning does without the risk of skin irritation or premature wrinkles.

Sun tanning often leaves your hands looking darker than the rest of your body; in contrast, spray tanning applies a uniform color across your entire surface area of skin. Furthermore, spray tans offer greater versatility in terms of shade selection allowing you to achieve the ideal look for any event or celebration – whether that is wedding preparations, beach vacation or simply adding extra shimmer into everyday routine – there are multiple advantages associated with using them.

Avoiding Sunburn: Sunburn can increase the risk of skin cancer while also leading to fine lines and wrinkles, sagging skin and age spots. Spray tanning offers an effective solution as there is no direct contact with UV radiation during application of the tanner solution.

Spray tanning can be gentler on sensitive skin

In contrast with sun tanning, which can irritate it further, spray tanning utilizes a safe and skin-friendly ingredient known as dihydroxyacetone (DHA) that reacts with amino acids present naturally within the body’s own amino acids to create an incredible tan. Furthermore, this method may also help those living with conditions like eczema, psoriasis, or any other skin issues which cause redness and inflammation such as DHA treatments can do.

    Exfoliation

Evans emphasizes the importance of exfoliating before getting a spray tan, since doing so will remove dead skin cells and allow your spray tan to adhere better to the surface of your skin. She advises exfoliating three days prior to your appointment using dry body scrubs like L’Oreal Paris Pure Sugar Resurface & Energize Kona Coffee Scrub ($32). Exfoliating also helps moisturize skin and shave, though rather than use shaving oil (which could leave behind an oil film), she advises using non-scented razors instead.

    Prevention

For optimal results, wear loose, dark clothing after spray tanning to protect it and avoid coming in contact with fabrics that could rub off or smudge its color. Also avoid perfume, deodorant and makeup which could create barriers and keep the spray tan from penetrating evenly into your skin.

As well as its health and beauty benefits, a good spray tan can boost your confidence by hiding imperfections. A spray tan can make legs appear longer while also hiding varicose veins or stretch marks from view. Many people opt for this cosmetic procedure before important events, like first dates or school functions, to ease nerves and build their confidence so they make the right impression – but great tanning treatments are also excellent year-round ways of building confidence by making you appear toned while hiding any potential imperfections that arise from lack thereof!

  • The Benefits of Deep Squat Hold

The Benefits of Deep Squat Hold

Few exercises offer as much benefit for strengthening the entire body as squatting does, with its many health advantages stretching far beyond quads, glutes, calves and even joints – strengthening them against injury while making muscles stronger overall. Unfortunately though, deep squat holds are not for beginners – they require high ankle mobility which may prove challenging to some individuals; physical therapists can provide tips to ensure proper form and progression safely.

Not only can deeper squat holds help boost strength, they can also enhance mobility and flexibility in your knees, hips and back. According to Dr. Matos this requires soft tissues such as muscles and ligaments to stretch more than in a standard squat and this flexibility plays a vital role in helping prevent injuries during workouts.

As you progress toward full deep resting squat, your ability to stay in this position for longer will increase as well. Thurman advises beginning with 10 seconds and gradually increasing it up to 30 seconds over time. At first this may feel unnervedly unnatural if most of your life has been spent sitting down in couches and office chairs – but as you squat focus on keeping feet flat on ground with neutral spine, rounding shoulders back without arching your back and keeping feet in their proper positions without rounding shoulders back or rounding shoulders over arching backs if necessary.

Squatting regularly will strengthen the tendons around your knees as well as the ligaments holding them together, decreasing your risk of knee injuries and making participation in sports or weightlifting that require repeated squats more likely.

Squatting will also aid in building bone density. Any weight-bearing exercise can improve bone health, but squats in particular have an especially profound impact. To increase its effectiveness further, try adding resistance by holding weights or even just wearing a heavy backpack filled with books while you squat.

Deep squat holds can be an excellent addition to your workout regimen, but newcomers or those suffering from injuries should consult a physical therapist first if they’re new to this exercise. They will guide them through lowering into full deep squat position safely while ensuring correct alignment to avoid injury.

  • Leg Exercises For Women to Slim Legs

Although some might assume slim legs are an indication of genetics, diet and exercise both play an integral part in how you look. Training lower body and core, burning calories, and shedding excess body fat are essential in getting leaner, stronger legs. By including the following leg exercises to slim legs into your routine can help achieve that runway model look.

High-intensity exercises, like those listed below, help build muscle mass and decrease body fat. One study involved participants working their non-dominant leg for 12 weeks using leg press exercises; researchers discovered this exercise did not increase leg-specific body fat but did reduce overall body fat levels.

Start out slowly – two to three sets per leg exercise or approximately 20 repetitions for each set should do it. Weighted or nonweighted exercises are both suitable options depending on your fitness level; newcomers to exercising should begin with lighter weights before gradually building up to heavier ones.

As with any weightlifting workout, proper form is of utmost importance when performing leg exercises. To prevent injury and maximize muscle contraction during each repetition, make sure you keep your back straight while engaging your core while performing these exercises. Pausing before each repetition to contract the muscles more fully provides an added challenge and could add even greater results!

Start off standing with feet shoulder width apart, taking a big step forward until your knee reaches approximately 90-degrees. Hold for a second before pushing up evenly through both feet to return back to starting position and repeat this exercise 10-15 times per set.

Doing the squat lunge exercises targets quads, hamstrings and inner thighs for an all-around leg workout that will tone and slim down legs. It is an excellent addition to leg day, since this movement will hit all major leg muscles for toning up and slimming down legs.

The bridge exercise targets hip, thigh and butt muscles while improving your posture. This exercise is great for those who spend long periods sitting, which can lead to muscular imbalances and poor posture. To add an extra challenge with this workout, use a resistance band around your thighs for this routine.

Spot reducing isn’t as effective as overall weight loss for reaching slimmer legs and more toned calves. To boost results, focus on burning total body fat by cutting back on processed and sweet foods while eating more unprocessed whole foods instead.

While these leg exercises for women to slim legs are great, don’t neglect including other strength training and cardiovascular exercises into your routine as well. This will ensure that you develop a well-rounded physique and achieve the results you’ve always longed for. Don’t be afraid to mix up your workout regimen by challenging different muscle groups with new leg exercises for maximum definition – just make sure that the muscle receives adequate rest between workouts to allow it to repair and grow!

  • The Definition of Flexibility in Sport

The Definition of Flexibility in Sport

Many sports require athletes to move their joints through a wide range of motion. Without enough flexibility, athletes risk increasing the likelihood of injury.

Flexibility refers to your muscles’ and joints’ ability to move through their full normal range of motion, helping promote proper body alignment, increase performance and decrease injury risk while decreasing muscle imbalance risk. It has many other advantages as well.

    Range of motion

Physical fitness terminology refers to range of motion as the distance a joint or muscle can move. Although individual results can differ significantly, there are general standards regarding how far an area should move in each direction.

An ideal range of motion is essential for athletic performance, enabling you to perform exercises with proper form and reducing injuries, as well as helping you reach optimal results from strength training workouts.

But, when looking at pictures of elite athletes at work, they rarely demonstrate unusual levels of flexibility. Instead, they possess exceptional levels of strength, power, endurance, and balance; this is because most movements in sport occur within an acceptable range that most people can easily accomplish; exceptions occur when excessive fatty tissue or muscle mass impose limitations on a joint’s full range of movement, restricting flexibility and potentially leading to pain in certain joints.

    Muscle strength

Muscular strength refers to the maximum force that one muscle or group of muscles can generate against resistance at one time. It’s an integral component of fitness and its influence can be felt across other variables like muscular endurance, speed and balance as well as day-to-day life functions such as being able to open doors and lift heavy boxes resulting in an active lifestyle.

Important to keep in mind is that being strong does not equate to being powerful. Even though you might be capable of performing many squats at the gym, if your muscles do not contract quickly enough then power is missing from your game.

Dynamic flexibility is required in sports that utilize full ranges of motion, such as gymnastics, diving and figure skating. Static-active flexibility requires using muscles to assume extended positions with assistance from another person while passive-passive flexibility enables extended stays in stretched positions.

    Coordination

Coordination-minded athletes tend to excel at sports such as tennis, karate or football. This is because having flexible muscles and tendons that move the joints quickly results in faster movement without losing balance – saving energy thus enabling higher-level performances for longer.

Coordination can be developed through regular exercises and drills. It’s especially vital in sports such as dance and racket sports that require the simultaneous stimulation of multiple muscle groups; such training also helps develop balance, rhythm and spatial awareness. Young athletes should be exposed to this form of stimulation from an early age so their coordination develops before becoming limited by sport specific stimuli later.

    Injury prevention

Flexibility training is a vital element of fitness but is often neglected during athletic and sports performance training. A regular flexibility routine can improve joint mobility, posture and reduce injury risks.

Although some individuals naturally possess greater flexibility than others, everyone can increase their own flexibility with regular stretching. Stretching can also help prevent injuries by relieving tight muscles and tendons during exercise and play that must be activated during movement.

Flexibility is of utmost importance for athletes as it increases their range of motion and can enable faster running, jumping higher, twisting more freely, turning quicker, reaching farther etc. Athletes should strive for symmetry; being less flexible on one side than another increases risk for muscle strains; additionally a review of studies on injury prevention has determined that stretching alone does not prevent injury in sport or other activities.

  • Functional Strength Training Vs HIIT

    Functional Strength Training Vs HIIT

    functional strength training vs HIIT

Strength training vs cardio can often polarise gym-goers into opposing camps; however, an approach that includes both strength training and high intensity interval training (HIIT) could help you meet your fitness goals faster than anticipated.

Functional strength training (FST) involves exercises that simulate real-life actions like squatting to pick up groceries or walking up stairs, and prioritizes full-body movements over traditional training methods.

    HIIT Burns Calories

If you have taken part in any group fitness class in recent years, chances are good that you have engaged in high intensity interval training (HIIT). Simply put, HIIT involves brief periods of high intensity exercise followed by low intensity activity; typically 1 minute on high intensity for 2 minutes off intensity is popularly practiced.

Short bursts of intense work require your body to use more oxygen, leading to faster caloric burn-off during and after workout – known as the afterburn effect.

HIIT can be completed either using only bodyweight exercises, or combined with functional strength training using weights like kettlebells and barbells. Our DC Metro personal trainers can assist in choosing which form of training best meets your health and fitness goals.

    HIIT Strengthens Muscles

HIIT works differently from traditional strength training in that it relies on functional movement patterns like lunges and push-ups that strengthen multiple muscle groups at once, providing benefits like improved balance, core strength, and endurance.

To build muscle, your body must continually demand more from its muscles each time you exercise them. Unfortunately, high intensity interval training does not maximize mechanical tension and it is difficult to use enough weight quickly enough for hypertrophy (the necessary step).

By working multiple muscle groups simultaneously in circuit fashion – such as kettlebell swings followed by pushups and pull-ups – you may achieve closer to your desired results. Just be sure to track your progress closely for maximum effectiveness!

    HIIT Increases Endurance

Functional exercises are excellent ways of strengthening multiple muscle groups at once. This reduces stress and impact placed on any one area, thus decreasing injuries. Furthermore, functional exercises condition the body for everyday tasks that arise; just think how often someone hurts their back lifting heavy boxes or tweaks their knee while walking up stairs!

As with traditional strength training, HIIT increases mitochondria density (the energy factories in a cell). This allows muscles to produce more ATP for higher intensities for longer. Furthermore, insulin sensitivity improves and blood sugar regulates, helping you burn more calories both during and post workout. Furthermore, HIIT may help prevent or reverse coronary artery disease by breaking down plaque in arteries and increasing blood flow.

    HIIT Strengthens Bones

HIIT requires intense, short intervals of exercise followed by active recovery periods to maximize results. It can be performed at any level and typically lasts no more than an hour.

Utilize a heart rate monitor to identify your optimal working heart rate (the result of subtracting your age from 221). In general, exercise sessions should occur at around 80-100% of maximum heart rate.

Ashenden asserts that high intensity interval training (HIIT) workouts help strengthen bones by increasing bone density – an essential element of overall skeletal health and strength. Regular weighted resistance training increases bone strength but not to the same degree; HIIT may have greater advantages when it comes to functional strength as its movement patterns closely mirror our daily activities.

    HIIT Improves Mental Health

Reaching fitness levels that enable you to perform daily activities is not only necessary for physical but also mental wellbeing. Functional training provides a solution, focusing on endurance and multi-directional movement exercises designed to prepare the body for common everyday movements.

Traditional and functional training both help build bone density, which is critical for overall skeletal health and helps ensure an efficient metabolic rate that burns calories throughout the day. Furthermore, both types of exercise have also been proven to enhance mood while contributing to other habits that promote mental wellness such as getting enough restful sleep.

Hiit workouts offer a convenient solution to those struggling to fit regular physical activity into their busy lives, as one study showed that just 30 minutes per week of HIIT can significantly improve sleep quality and decrease fatigue levels.

  • Waist Exercises For Women

    waist exercises for women

Waist exercises are an excellent addition to any workout regimen for women seeking a slimmer and tighter waistline. These simple bodyweight exercises will strengthen and tone abdominal muscles and obliques, making your waistline tighter and smaller in no time!

Beginning in a high plank position with your hands directly under shoulders and knees bent stacked directly under hips, slowly bring one leg toward your chest before slowly returning it back to its initial starting position. Repeat these movements 3-5 times for best results.

    Hip Thrust

The hip thrust is an active closed-chain movement designed to target gluteal (butt) muscles, hamstrings, adductor and quadriceps muscles of inner and outer thighs as well as stabilizing erector spinae muscles in order to build functional strength that improves running speed, jumping ability and quickness. Hip thrusts combined with exercises like squats and deadlifts help increase functional strength necessary for running faster, jumping higher and jumping quicker.

Hip thrusts can help shape and strengthen legs, but proper form is crucial to avoid injuring knees or lower backs. Proper warming-up before performing strength-training movements is also crucial; 5-10 minute moderate cardio warmup followed by dynamic stretching should do just fine. A common mistake when doing hip thrusts is coming up onto their balls of feet at the top of movement due to foot placement issues or quad dominance; keeping heel contact throughout will ensure glute activation is maximized.

    Mountain Climbers

Mountain climbers are an effective way to boost your heart rate while working multiple muscles simultaneously, including those found in your core, shoulders, back and legs. Mountain climbers engage these four muscle groups simultaneously – improving balance, agility and coordination as well as increasing strength while decreasing fat accumulation.

Start in a high plank position with hands directly under your shoulders and your core braced. Quickly bring one knee into your chest before taking two steps backward. Repeat this action with both legs.

Fast knees up and down towards your chest is an effective way to activate ab muscles (rectus abdominis and obliques), which help stabilize the trunk, minimize spinal movement, support legs and prevent backache. In addition, this move also targets your triceps, shoulders and hip flexors – working all at the same time! To avoid injury, don’t rush through this movement by trying to beat the rep count; doing so could compromise form and lead to overtraining too quickly; instead use this rep count as a guide and follow it for maximum benefit!

    Side Plank Hip Lifts

This movement is an effective waist exercise for women that targets obliques, improves posture and burns calories. To perform it effectively, lay on your side with feet stacked stacked and one hand directly under shoulder before pressing up into side plank with top hip in line with shoulder and body in an inelastic straight line from head to toe.

Raise one leg towards the ceiling and hold for several seconds before slowly lowering it back down until it touches the ground again. Repeat to complete reps.

As with other exercises on this list, make sure your core and glutes remain tight during this move. Allowing hips to drop or your torso sag puts at risk working the wrong muscles and risking injury. This move targets rectus abdominis (commonly referred to as “six-pack” muscles), external and internal obliques as well as quadratus lumborum for lateral trunk stability1, among others1. You can modify this move according to your fitness needs or fitness goals!

    One-Legged Plank

Planking is one of the best-known exercises to strengthen core muscles, and offers a versatile workout. Different types of planks target different parts of the abdominal area; such as front- and side-plank variations which target frontal, middle, oblique abdominal, posterior abdominal muscles. Reverse planking provides additional challenges that strengthen hip inner-thigh muscles; finally there is the jack-n-plank which incorporates movement for added difficulty.

Straight-arm planks (sometimes referred to as full planks) resemble the top of a push up exercise; your shoulders should rest directly over your wrists and your feet shoulder width apart. The difficulty lies in maintaining a neutral neck position while strengthening both your arms and holding for prolonged periods.

The Eka Pada Vasisthasana side plank provides a dynamic way to strengthen both core muscles and shoulders simultaneously by combining hip twists with diagonal knee pulls for optimal results. This practice strengthens shoulders while simultaneously stabilizing your body when holding a plank pose.

  • Easy Computer and Tech Neck Stretching Exercises

computer and tek neck stretching exercises

Spending hours every day looking at your phone or computer can put strain on the neck muscles, leading to “tech neck”. Luckily, there are simple at-home exercises which may provide relief.

Start by taking breaks every hour while watching screen-based media to stretch out your neck, as well as positioning your device at eye level instead of down.

    Stretching the levator scapula

The levator scapulae muscle lifts and rotates the upper part of your shoulder blade (scapula). Innervated by the dorsal scapular nerve, this muscle needs to be stretched regularly in order to prevent neck pain, stiffness, or tightness from tightening over time – especially useful if suffering from “tech neck”. Stretching may help alleviate symptoms caused by spending too much time staring down at a smartphone or tablet screen!

To stretch the levator scapula, tilt your head slightly right and use one hand to gently pull shoulder upward and downward until you feel movement in both neck and shoulder muscles. Repeat the exercise on the other side.

Regular levator scapula stretching can help improve posture, decrease neck and shoulder stiffness/tightness and tension headaches, as well as provide relief to many with “tech neck.” Many find solace from this simple stretching exercise on an ongoing basis.

    Stretching the sternocleidomastoids

This neck stretch helps stretch the sternocleidomastoid (SCM) muscles that wrap around your collarbone and ear. Sit upright and tilt your head right until your chin is above your shoulder and parallel to the floor – adding this exercise into your daily routine may prevent strain and pain in the long term.

Tech neck is most often caused by improper posture while looking at screens, with forward head and rounded shoulders posture placing extra strain on the neck and weakening muscles between shoulder blades resulting in pain.

To avoid tech neck, it’s essential to maintain correct posture while working and take regular breaks. Stretching and rolling back shoulders throughout the day may also help maintain supple neck muscles. If your symptoms persist, visit a spine specialist as soon as possible; they may provide stretching exercises or physical therapy solutions.

    Stretching the rhomboids

If you have been experiencing neck pain when looking down at your phone or tablet, now may be the time to stretch. These simple exercises can be done both at home and at work in order to alleviate tech neck pain as well as prevent more serious health concerns.

Your head usually weighs 10-12 pounds when in its natural upright posture, but tilting your head downward can put more strain and injury onto the neck muscles resulting in strain and injury. Strengthening and stretching these neck muscles may help alleviate tech neck symptoms as well as enhance posture.

To stretch the rhomboids, stand tall with your head held straight. Place one hand behind your head and gently pull down on it toward your right armpit – repeat this exercise for 10 seconds on both sides – this will stretch the levator scapula muscle while loosening any tightness caused by poor posture.

    Stretching the rotator cuff

This stretch is an effective way to strengthen and stretch the muscles that support your shoulder, as well as strengthening neck and upper back muscles. To do this exercise, start by standing with feet hip distance apart and knees slightly bent; or sit down while placing hands on either side of your head to pull downward towards armpit (as though sniffing).

Be mindful not to overstretch when performing any of these stretches and work closely with your physical therapist to ensure you’re getting maximum benefit out of every exercise.

Most cases of tech neck can be managed through changing your work habits and including ergonomic adjustments and stretching exercises into daily life. If symptoms don’t respond to treatment plans, however, medical help should be sought immediately. To learn more about treating and preventing tech neck, speak to a physical therapist in your local clinic.

  • Judo Belt Colors

    Judo Belt Colors

Judoka are categorized according to their skill, knowledge and (for later dan grades) contribution to the art form. Their rank is indicated by the color of their belt.

    White

White belts represent purity and represent the first steps on one’s journey in judo. At NOCO Jiu-Jitsu and Self-Defense, students earn white belts as they embark upon their judo training to build up skills and knowledge essential to successful judo practice.

Jigoro Kano introduced the first martial arts belt grading system, known as Kyu and Dan. There are six Kyu ranks before promotion to first-degree black belt status is possible; Mikonosuke Kawaishi later introduced colored belt rank systems after moving from Japan to France to teach Judo; these systems have since been adopted by numerous other martial arts styles.

Jigoro Kano, the creator of judo, established colored belts to assist his students in tracking their progress and has since adopted this system into other martial arts disciplines such as karate and taekwondo.

    Yellow

    judo belt colors

At the yellow belt level, students begin to expand upon their experience and skills. A yellow belt symbolizes sunlight; its meaning being that students grow as they acquire knowledge and strengthen themselves over time. It is widely used across judo, karate and taekwondo disciplines.

Mikinosuke Kawaishi, a Judo master who immigrated to France, is widely recognized for pioneering the introduction of colored belts for Judo. His aim was to give students immediate recognition of their progress and skills – ultimately encouraging patience and focus as they journeyed toward black belt. Kyu levels are sanctioned by their teacher based on technical criteria such as results or participation in various events as well as behavior (related to moral codes of martial arts). Each color represents different stages in learning and development.

    Orange

Attaining an orange belt represents significant progress and proficiency in Judo. Students begin exploring randori, an open form of free sparring where practitioners put their techniques through rigorous tests in an unscripted setting.

At this stage, students will begin to reap the rewards of proper body mechanics as their throws and grips improve. Instructors may introduce some of Jigoro Kano’s philosophy – such as discipline and humility. A solid orange belt represents intermediate expertise; one step up from yellow.

    Green

Green belt represents the growth and dissemination of knowledge as you continue studying and training hard. Achievement in Judo shows dedication and progress.

At this stage, students should feel increasingly secure with themselves and are becoming comfortable taking ukemi (falling techniques). Furthermore, they will begin developing their own style of judo using some of what they’ve learned so far; at this point they are considered “judoka”, with potential to move onto higher Dan ranks should they so desire.

    Brown

As they advance towards becoming full-fledged judokas, students earning their 3rd Kyu brown belt make significant strides toward becoming masterful practitioners. Their commitment has allowed them to understand over half of judo techniques. Brown symbolizes growth; just as students themselves blossom into something greater.

At NOCO Jiu-Jitsu and Self-Defense, students experience more than just skill acquisition as they progress through the belt ranks; rather, their journey also marks personal transformation. Students embrace and embody the values and principles of judo while moving through each belt rank – although it may be hard work!!

    Red

Jigoro Kano, the creator of judo, created colored belts to signify different levels of proficiency. At first, he used two colors – white for beginners and black for teachers/masters.

Nowadays, the ranking system for colored belts is determined by a combination of technical criteria, results or participation in judo events or competitions, scrupulous respect of moral code rules, sufficient practice investment, as well as investment by instructors during an official exam organized within clubs. A rank is awarded after successful passing of such exams by their teachers.

Beginning with white belts, which symbolize learning and skill acquisition, progressing through brown to black (representing expertise). Achieve this milestone is truly inspiring and represents an impressive milestone in one’s judo life.
